Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika is the Vice chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology and an Internal Medicine Physician and Epidemiologist with an interest in maximising the strategic potential of data collected through surveillance and service delivery platforms to improve patient care and overall population health. She has developed epidemiological methods and published new research findings that have improved the use of, e.g., Malaria, and HIV data. She has previously led large research projects focused on AMR during which she trained nine students at masters’ level. Additionally, she currently works with the National Malaria Control Division to develop a strategy to respond to antimalarial resistance in the country.
As a Project Co-lead, Pauline is representing the academia / researchers / scientists and support in the project management activities and governance as well as provide expertise in AMR, develop epidemiological methods, support the training of health stakeholders on the AI-digital intervention.
