Health Systems Researcher — Senior Lecturer & Director, CIREM Hub

Dr. Aloysius Ssenyonjo is a Senior Lecturer and Director of the Complexity, Innovative Research and Evaluation Methodologies (CIREM) Hub at Makerere University School of Public Health. He has over 15 years of experience in health systems research, policy analysis, and evaluation across sub-Saharan Africa. He is an interdisciplinary scholarship whose work focuses on health policy and systems research, political economy analysis, systems thinking, and complexity-informed approaches to strengthen problem-solving of complex development challenges. His expertise spans multisectoral coordination, One Health, health security, climate and health, urban health, and health systems integration, with a strong emphasis on evidence-informed policymaking to advance Universal Health Coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals. His work spans global, regional, national and subnational levels. He has led and contributed to major national and multi-country research and capacity development projects with partners including WHO, NIHR, the World Bank, and Palladium.

Within this project, Aloysius supports health systems analysis, multisectoral governance, and monitoring and evaluation for integrated antimicrobial resistance surveillance and One Health systems strengthening in Uganda.
